I congratulate the Empire Fair Committee on the great

success which has ttended their efforts. The result cannot

fail to be gratifying to Mrs. Amery, who originated the idea,

to Lady Peel who did so much to encourage it, while

we venture to hope that Her Majesty the Queen who has taken

so keen and personal an interest in the movement may hear

of our humble efforts in this Empire wide campaign

Where all have given so generously of their time and their

enthusiasm it is perhaps invidious to mention names, but I

cannot refrain from expressing our indebtedness to the

Honourable Mr. Braga and the Hon. Mr. Shenton who have between

them shouldered the main responsibilities of this Fair and

have been the moving spirits of the organization.

thanks are also due to Mr. Bush and Mr. Fung Ki Cheuk for

arousing the interest of the New Territories farmers in the

scheme, to Mrs. iyer for her keen interest and help in

various sections and to Major Duclos and Mr. Williamson for

bringing the Dominions so closely into touch with the Fair.

Mr. Hicks and Mr. Franklin have done wonders in propaganda,

and I take this opportunity of than ing the Press for their

generous co-operation and for the excellence of their articles

on the British Empire which have relieved me of any need to

cllate still further on its manifold resources.
